EZ Pass President

Perhaps you’ve heard about a recently released book from a former 19 year old JFK intern who describes in great detail her extended affair with the former President. It is incredibly lurid and adds color to what is already accepted as fact about Kennedy’s exceptionally prurient behavior.

Old thrill up his leg Chris Matthews was just asked if the new revelations would change his opinion of his hero, Jack Kennedy…even if the intern had been Matthews’ own daughter? Tellingly, but not surprisingly, he replied, no. That’s right, with one simply posed question and single word response, Chris Matthews pulled back the curtain on how the Left thinks. There is virtually no misdeed, no level of incompetence, no outrageous behavior they won’t overlook in the service of their ideology. Of course, that’s why the National Organization for Women ignored Bill Clinton’s misogyny, and other liberal-leaning groups disregard the missteps of those who share their world view.

Well, the grand liberal tradition of calculated apathy marches on. At least Republicans have the good sense to eat their own.

Barack Obama is just the latest Democrat beneficiary of media sponsorship.

Our EZ Pass president keeps on whizzing right by the toll booth.

He’s gotten more free passes than Barry Bonds with runners on 2nd and 3rd.

The subject is irrelevant. The liberal media can ignore or rationalize away anything—BO's various Chicago associations, his unkept promise to accept public campaign funding, unprecedented and elongated unemployment, an anemic economic recovery, exploding debt and deficits, the Obamacare cost-containment fallacy, one failed housing fix after another, sophomoric and dangerous policies with respect to Libya, Israel, Iran, and the Middle East. And, let’s not forget the latest free pass, hyper-escalating gasoline prices.

Democrats and their media enablers look the other way more than a crossing guard with a nervous tic.

I can sense the protestations of my liberal friends. They’re thinking, whaddaya mean…Obama is getting grilled on all this stuff. Yeah, like a cop questions a hot blonde he just stopped for speeding. I’m going to let you off with a warning this time, Mr. President.. Take it easy now…and have a nice day.

To a Dem, a perfunctory query so as to not appear totally in the tank is tantamount to the full body cavity search a Republican president would receive if he/she were presiding over any (let alone all) of the aforementioned leadership disasters.

Slight difference between a sheepishly asked question with little/no follow up and the relentless furor of a rabid pack of media hounds hell bent on your destruction. Just sayin’.

Almost forgot. He's gotten one other pass. Contraception.

Who figured that if Obama said, "free at last, free at last", he wouldn't be quoting Martin Luther King?

revist my earleir comments. Chuck - I like your writing style. I enjoy your fervent defense of conservative values; heck I can even see your side of the argument sometimes - but in this case I have to disagree. Oh wait - first I have to agree - Chris Matthews is a tool. Now the disagreement.

Your premise is that the so called liberal press isnt holding Obama accountable. You feel that they should somehow provide more value if they were spreading rumors about birth certificates or his Secret Muslim religion he is using to enforce Sharia Law on the right.

I am sorry you are disappointed. But if you cling to the level of accuracy you cite in your post you will continue to be disappointed. Lets challenge a few thoughts there:

Deficit - the deficit was a result of shady accounting and book keeping practices run by Bush and Co. When you run 2 wars "off the books" until you leave office - Yes $2T/yr for 8 years looks bad. But I cant fault Obama for this. This was money that your REPUBLIC PRESIDENT and REPUBLIC HOUSE spent.

Repulicans spent like drunks the last 10 years - Bush only ever vetoed one spending bill in 8 years and that was a Democratic one.

Stimulus - The Stimulus couldve been more effective if it hadnt been gutted with Tax Cuts. When BOEHNER says the $2T Stimulus didnt work does he include the 61% Tax Cuts Obama was forced to accept in order to get the little infrastructure spending he got? I think the REPUBLIC congress gets the press easy pass on this one. They get to rail against the Stimulus while delivering to the rich white folks all the continued tax cuts they expect. God bless the 1%. Do you really think its a good idea to borrow $2T/yr to give the Rich Tax Cuts? Really?

Gas Prices? We are at a 10 yrlow in demand. We have a surplus of supply. Refineries are operating at 60% capacity and we are exporting OIL fo rthe first time in years. Why is the price of gas so high? Hmmm- look at the moves that Morgan Stanley; and Citigroup starting making in the Speculation market just after John McCain; Lindsay GRaham; Joe Lieberman started demanding another war with IRan. That is where your rise in Cost is. Besides - Bill Oreilly during the Bush campaign for re--election told us all that "A President has no control whatsoever over the cost of gas - and if any one you talk to says so they are lying" and Bill Should know.

Lastly - in my first comment I labeled you a social conservative - you took umbrage. Said you are not. Ok then - one question. Why are you asking the press to somehow investigate Obama and Contraception?. With everything else this country needs in terms of solutions and progress - you think the press should go after Obama on Birth Control?. B#$%H Please.... Contraception is the last thing I want our president talking about - you should feel the same way too. Other than that Mrs Lincoln how was the play? - yours in opposition - JT

JT, you're missing my admittedly unclear point on the contraception subject.  Trust me, it's the last topic I want anybody focused on--Republicans or Democrats.  The country has too many big fish to fry.  I'm simply saying that Obama is inappropriately wading into separation of church and state waters and ostensibly getting a free pass on it from the media...which, of course, is no surprise.

Many of your facts are incorrect.  For example, you are confusing budgets and deficits.  Yes, the wars were off budget items during the Bush presidency, but those costs did not and cannot escape the actual year-end deficit number.  So, the 2007 deficit of $161B included everything...wars and all.  The worst Bush deficit in his eight-year presidency is less than a third what Obama racks up each year.

Yes, Republicans did spend like drunks, but they were a slightly tipsy housewife compared to the Democrats who were like Charlie Sheen on a weekend Vegas bender.  As I've said, in virtually every instance, with the exception of Defense, the overspending Republicans were dwarfed by their Democrat counterparts.  The prescription drug benefit is a perfect example.

It's hard to know what it will take to get Democrats to understand how to hasten the end of a downturn and accelerate an economic recovery.  Their is no clearer data in the field of economics on what does/doesn't work.  Again, despite what Liberals think, our economy is not a zero sum game.  One group does not succeed by taking from another.  Long-term structural changes to tax policy is one of the primary levers for moving businesses, individuals, and markets in a sustainable fashion...not, short-term/one-time spending measures and/or tax rebates.  The data is incontrovertible.  As distasteful as it might be to you and your Liberal friends, big-time economic advances (that include significant expansions in employment) come from incenting those who control capital.  Yes, they gain, but more importantly, they create enormous opportunity (including employment) for millions of others.  That's a win/win.  As long as the Left thinks they need to punish the wealthy, they will continue to harm the most vulnerable instead.  The wealthy are the least affected.

You are also incorrect on gas/oil.  Speculation is a vital part of a functioning market.  It's nothing more than anticipation of the future availability of a commodity based on a variety of factors, including government policies.  Oversupply is a myth.  If and when it does occur, it's due to basic, short-term adjustments by consumers to material movements in price.  Once that occurs, excess supply quickly disappears.  The world uses around 85 or 87 million barrels of oil a day, and the world production capacity is roughly the same amount (plus or minus a couple million barrels).  That, by the way, is why the Left is dead wrong on our ability to significant impact price.  If the U.S./world were able to produce as little as another 5% to 10%, the downward pressure on price would be enormous.  Simple economics.

JT, keep fightin' the good fight.  Look at those Liberal talking points with a skeptical eye.  Let the facts guide you...whichever way they may point.

      Thanks for your ongoing readership.
