A Look Ahead for the Republicans
It's awfully early to be thinking about the 2012 presidential campaign, but the early Republican beneficiaries of McCain's lackluster performance have to be Romney and Huckabee. The party will no doubt recognize that after 8 years of Bush and 2 years of largely incoherent campaigning by McCain, communication is king. No doubt others will emerge, but Romney and Huckabee will likely have the early advantage. There was an awful lot of Obama fodder out there to be taken advantage of. McCain simply couldn't deliver. One can only imagine what somebody with charisma, oratory skills, and a sharp wit might have done.
